guess we can test that theory now karl...im ready for my 'F'
so i need someone to tell me if they have any idea what the difference is here and if i have a setting or something changed between my two files...

this photo is of the tree where the file is working. when i create an extruded pad or pocket, in the tree it shows that it is related to the scaling or the curve that was extruded....

doing everything the same (now in the unsuccessful file) it does not show that relationship.
i THINK this is what is keeping me from being able to powercopy the void. everything else between the two files is the EXACT SAME. i have no idea what the difference is besides this.
so karl, nate....anyone.
ideas?
why wont it show that in the tree?
thanks guys. this is killing me
You've got me on that one... a couple questions about the unsuccessful file:
ReplyDelete1) Was Pad.1 created by instantiating a powercopy? I'm assuming, since you say you aren't able to powercopy the void, that the pad was created manually and you want to turn it into a powercopy. But I figure I should make sure...
2) What happens when you double click on Pad.1? Does it show the inputs you gave it for height, direction, profile, etc.? Or does it reset to "No selection" for the profile?
3) Does any operation that goes into the PartBody (pad, pocket, etc) show the relationship to a profile shape in the tree (as in the first, successful file)? Is it the same problem in the original PartBody as it is in a new PartBody? (I've noticed that there is a difference, since you can't use "Remove" to subtract the original PartBody from anything else)
